What is xylometazoline?
Xylometazoline, although a mouthful to say, is the key ingredient found in Otrivin nasal spray and drops.1,2 As the active ingredient, it rapidly relieves nasal congestion and continues to work for up to 10 hours.3 It acts directly on the blood vessels that line the nose.1 By working directly on the affected area, it can quickly and effectively reduce swelling, drain the sinuses and relieve congestion.4
